Overview
The Frank Batten Investment Fund (FBIF) is the only student-run investment organization at UVA affiliated with both the Batten and McIntire Schools. We draw on the unique strengths and resources of both institutions to develop the next generation of leaders in finance, shaping students who not only succeed on the job but also lead their teams with integrity, vision, and a consideration for the planet.
Meetings
FBIF hosts weekly general-body meetings tailored to member interests. This has historically included student stock pitches, market discussions, and guest appearances from successful alumni, Darden Professors, and Fortune 500 CEOs.
Training
New members complete a comprehensive 10-week financial training program covering accounting fundamentals, valuation techniques, M&A, DCF, and LBO modeling, among other topics. Students preparing to recruit for roles in investment banking, private equity, sales & trading, and related fields can also opt into an additional training program that includes more advanced technical training, behavioral interview workshops, individualized resume reviews, mock interviews conducted by senior members and alumni, 1 on 1 office hours, detailed networking lists, email templates, and more.
Social
Our club hosts a variety of social events each semester fostering the general body’s close-knit culture including dinner parties, trips to Carter Mountain Orchard, escape room visits, end-of-semester banquets, and more.
